General Snus – An Authentic Swedish Snus

General Snus is a unique smokeless tobacco product. It has nothing to with the military despite its name. It is a genuine Swedish snus. Since 1915, General Snus has been producing according to a secret recipe that is known only to a few employees at the Swedish Match factories in Gothenburg, Sweden. Before the early 1900’s, many snus manufacturers used to offer a “general” snus as a generic, universal product based on simple recipe containing few ingredients. At the beginning of the 19th century, several snus manufacturers begin grinding tobacco and mixing with water, salt and flavourings. This loose tobacco known as loose snus was packed into cardboard cans or sold in bulk bags. Most of the Swedish workers and farmers preferred this loose smokeless tobacco snus product since it cost less and kept their hands free for work. General Snus products are made from dark, moist and coarsely ground tobacco. The profile for all General Snus products are characterised as deeply aromatic and slightly peppery with a hint of bergamot and black tea.

General Snus like most other Swedish Snus has two formats available on the market, loose and portion packed. The loose format is General loose even know as General Original Loose or Lös snus. The portion pack formats are General portion, General White portion, General Silver portion, General Maxi portion, General Mini portion and General Onyx. The portion Snus packet products have lid-in-lid design that is very practical and useful to keep used pouches in the lid of the can.
